STUDENT TEACHING NOTEBOOKS

Must be up to date and ready for me each time I visit. Notebook must be typed, neat, and kept up to date. Refer to student teaching handbook for further explanation and examples.

  1. Introduction – description of community, school building, curriculum offerings, extracurricular, staff, size, etc., plus any handouts of this nature.

  3. Department of Health and Exercise Science – description of policies, size, responsibilities, uniforms, excuses, grades, showers, facilities, lockers, equipment, curriculum extracurricular, plus handouts.

  5. Daily record of classes – one per day with following breakdown:

    Activity Observation Participation Teaching (Must have LP)

     
  7. NJ State Logtyped and neat--due at the completion of the eight weeks--one page includes a line for each week--keep times in minutes and total both by week and by grand total.

  9. Observations – minimum of eight (8) – include: date, what, how, why.
  10. Examples – see different subjects, interscholastics, office, nurse, guidance, library, cafeteria, assembly, faculty meeting, etc. Should not be any observed PE or Health classes.
     
  11. Units - Outlines for all subjects taught.       Use Department of Health & Exercise Science format (includes dates, grade level, equipment, Core Content Standards, objectives, block plan and evaluative techniques

  13. Lesson Plans - must be written for any lesson taught and initialed by cooperating teacher before class is taught (Cooperating reacher  will designate due dates). Use Department of Health & Exercise Science format. (Includes date of lesson, grade level, equipment, anticipated difficulties, Core Content Standards, objectives (general  and clear breakdown of content with: Time, Procedures (movement of students and set up of activities), Content (breakdown of teaching cues, lecture notes, information for students). Additionally, you will write a reflection for each class taught--you may want to create a template to ues for each day.

  15. Project – approved by cooperating and supervising teacher; description and summary in notebook.
