Welcome!
By studying the lessons presented in this site, you will gain a basic
knowledge of Quechua, the agglutinative language that was spoken by the
citizens of the Incan Empire. In terms of speaker population, Quechua
currently ranks first among indigenous languages in the Americas. Today,
there are over ten million speakers of Quechua living throughout southern
Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, and northern Argentina (Silver &
Miller, 1997:7).
