EDUCATION & BACKGROUND

Shreekanth Mandayam is a Professor Emeritus of Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE) at Rowan University. Previously, he was the Vice President for Research and the Executive Director of the South Jersey Technology Park from 2011-2018 and the Chair of the ECE Department from 2006-2011. Prior to joining the faculty at Rowan in 1997, Dr. Mandayam was a Research Associate and Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Iowa State University , Ames, Iowa. He has held Sabbatical appointments as a Research Consultant for GE-Global Research, John F. Welch Technology Centre in Bangalore, India, and as a Research Associate for The National Academies, at NASA Stennis Space Center, Mississippi.  Dr. Mandayam received his Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics Engineering in 1990 from Bangalore University, India. He received his M.S. degree (Electrical Engineering) in 1993 and his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering (Communications and Signal Processing) in 1996 from Iowa State University.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
AND INTERESTS

Dr. Mandayam has research expertise in the area of imaging, image processing, multi-sensor data fusion, advanced visualization and virtual reality. He has directed research in the Virtual Reality Center in the South Jersey Tech Park and the Joint Health Sciences Center, which supports research projects sponsored by the National Science Foundation, NASA, US Navy, US Economic Development Administration, US Department of Energy,  American Cancer Society, ExxonMobil, Elekta AB, etc.
Dr. Mandayam has taught courses in Electrical Communications Systems, Digital Image Processing and Artificial Neural Networks.
Dr. Mandayam is a Senior Member of the IEEE  and a member of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE). He was the Student Activities Chair for IEEE-Region 2 (Eastern United States) from 2004-2008. He has served on the Board of the Research & Development Council of New Jersey, the Scientific Advisory Council of the University City Science Center, the Vice President of Conferences for the IEEE Systems Council (2015-2016), Vice President for Publications (2011-2012) and Vice President of Finance (2009-2010) for the IEEE Instrumentation & Measurement Society
