C.H.A.M.P. (Creating Higher Aspirations and Motivations
Project)/ GEARUP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) is one of 10 College Bound programs in the state of New Jersey serving 7th through 12th grade students.


The project serves public school students in Camden. The program is supported by grants from the New Jersey Commission on Higher Education, The Camden City Board of Education, Campbell Soup Foundation, Camden Empowerment Zone Corp. and Rowan University.


What does The program offer? Services offered by NJ GEAR UP include:

  • A 6-week summer program on a college campus

  • Saturday classes

  • Tutoring after school

  • College visits and tours

  • Assistance with college applications

  • Financial aid information workshops

  • Mentoring

  • Academic and personal counseling

  • GEPA, HSPA, PSAT, and SAT prep classes

  • Cultural and educational field trips

  • Scholarships for college
