Prepare
for College Now!!!
- Review your
recent and current class schedule with your school guidance counselor. Make
sure you have taken, and are taking, college preparatory courses which will
be required for admission to a four year institution.
- Strive to maintain
an "A" or "B" average in your course work.
- If you have
not done so, check with your high school counselor about the state high school
competency exam.
- Participate
in academic enrichment programs. Many colleges and universities have excellent
summer programs for high school students. Contact the Office of Admissions
at the school of your choice for more information about such programs.
- Take the PSAT
- Obtain an SAT
registration form from your high school counselor. If finances are a problem,
ask your counselor about information regarding a fee waiver.
- In the early
Fall, begin to prepare for the SAT/ACT. Several guidebooks are available,
as are computerized programs, which may help you prepare. If you need help
contact your counselor.
- If possible,
attend college fairs and presentations by representatives of colleges and
universities. Listen to school announcements for information about representatives
visiting your school.
- Create a file
on college and universities which appeal to you. Write or call the Office
of Admissions of these schools to request a copy of an application for undergraduate
admission and financial aid. Ask about your proposed college major.
- Read all college
materials you receive carefully. Research the requirements for admission and
compare costs and types of financial aid available.
