Danish Dance of Greeting (Denmark)

Background:

Grade: K-2

Formation:  Single circle facing in. Designate partners who are standing next to each other and on the dancer's other side is their Neighbor Partner.

Movements: Clapping, Bow, Stamping, 4 step running turn. Running in a circle


Description:

Part 1.  Clap hands twice and bow to partner (4 counts)  One count for each clap and two counts for the bow.

Part 2.  Clap hands twice and bow to the neighbor partner (4 counts) One count for each clap and two counts for the bow.

Part 3. Stamp once with the right foot, stamp once with the left foot 2 counts for each stamp. (4 counts).

Part 4. Run four steps while turning around to the right. (4 counts)

Repeat Parts 1 to 4.

Part 5. All dancers hold hands, turn to the leftt and perform 16 light running steps forward and then turn  to the right and perform 16 light running steps.

Repeat the dance again.

Dancers can call out the name of their partners on the bow.
