Occupation: woodsman. Accidentally shot in the woods at Katahdin Iron Works while working; able to mount his horse, the horse brought him home.

Piscataquis County Registry Deeds:
March 30, 1895, Asa Johnson sells to son Frank C. Johnson for $2000 and a bond for support the farm which includes: 2 horses, 1 colt, 2 cows, 1 heifer, thirty-five sheep and all the farming tools, with carriages and harness. [vol. 116, p. 473]

Mabel M Johnson [scrapbook] was born on Feb 17 1898. She died on Feb 26 1953. The cause of death was friedreich's Ataxia??.

Berta & Metella Washburn spent summers in Lewiston helping Aunt Mabel care for her daughters when A. Mabel's health began to fail. Tella was taking care of the kids of a friend who was a doctor and had a new baby. Originally, she was supposed to care of the other children, taking them to the beach and keeping them amused, but she ended up caring for the new baby more often. Cousins Laura & Paul Johnson and Berta Washburn were staying at Mabel Johnson Lawrence's, helping her to walk and caring for her daughters. some notes of Hattie Johnson Washburn have his name Asa Samuel.

Living in southern NJ, he was a fisherman working for Murry Brothers in Paulsboro who also had a fish store. Before the oil refineries located in Paulsboro, there was quite a lot of fishing in the Delaware River. Samuel Asa called "Captain Sam" by the boys on the docks. He also was a builder (houses) and worked in concrete. He once built a boat in the basement of his home on Greenwich Ave in Paulsboro that was too large to get out of the house. Had to take apart some of the house to remove it and the story was written up in the newspaper. (Interview with Mr. Rickert, sister of Edna Johnson Raynor's best friend, conducted by Janet Raynor Vogt, 12/03)

Edna Johnson [scrapbook] was born on Mar 14 1913 in Erie St, Camden, NJ. She died on Jun 17 2000 in West Deptford, NJ.

In her early 20's she was thrown off a horse and broke her back. Wore brace for a long time. First worked for Socony Oil Refinery in Paulsboro. With insurance settlement monies after accidental death of first husband John Shea, she opened the Cradle Shop in Woodbury, NJ. (JRV interview with Mr. Rickert, 12/2003)
