My name is Jacquelyn Halbach and I am from Parsippany, New Jersey. I began my experience at Rowan University in 2005 after graduating from Parsippany Hills High School. I entered as an Elementary Education major and decided to earn a coordinate in Writing Arts. Through this major I have been able to complete field experience in Abbott districts, as well as second, third, and fourth grade classrooms. I am about to enter my last semester here at Rowan University which means I will be Student Teaching. I have been placed in a second grade classroom at Ethel Burke Elementary in Belmawr, New Jersey. I am looking forward to working with the teacher in order to prepare myself for graduation.
As for my coordinate in Writing Arts, I have been discovering the range of prose that can be used in an elementary classroom. I am currently taking three writing courses; Writing, Research, and Technology, Evaluating Writing, and The Writer's Mind. I have been writing about topics ranging from social interactions on the internet to getting into the mind of an infant. I am excited to see how my writing portfolio comes together at the end of this semester.
In the future I hope to be working in a first or second grade classroom at an elementary school in New Jersey. With this security I will be able to further my education by earning a Master's Degree. I aspire to use the Rowan University education program's principle of creating a true learning community.
