South Harrison Township Geographic Information System

This multimedia CDROM contains environmental and township data in two forms:

1) an electronic NRI report which can be viewed with any web browser.
2) digital electronic maps which can be viewed with the included ARCEXPLORER[tm] Geographic Information System(GIS) veiwer.

1) eNRI report
The eNRI report can be viewed with any web browser such as Netscape Navigator[tm] or MICROSOFT Explorer[tm]. If you already have a web browser installed simply click on the file <SH_ENRI_REPORT.html>. If you need to install a web browser click on the <INSTALL_NETSCAPE.exe> file located in the INSTALLATION folder. You will also need ADOBE ACROBAT READER[tm] for the NRI report to be fully functional. If you do not have ADOBE ACROBAT already installed on your computer then click on the file <adobe_acrobat_install.exe> located in the INSTALLATION folder.

2)GIS map viewer
Most environmental data available in this report are viewable as electronic GIS maps. These maps can be viewed using the ARCEXPLORER[tm] GIS viewer software that is included on this disk. To install the ARCEXPLORER[tm] data viewer click on the
<INSTALL_ARCEXPLORER.exe> file located in the INSTALLATION folder. Instructions for using ARCEXPLORER[tm] are included as a README file with the installation of the program. This data viewer will only work with a PC running Windows 95 or
Windows 98.

USING ARCEXPLORER GIS mapviewer
Once the ARCEXPLORER[tm] has been installed the GIS maps can be viewed. Since different computers use different drive letters there are several copies of the GIS project file included on the disk named <sh_gis_C.AEP>, <sh_gis_D.AEP> and <sh_gis_E.AEP>. Use the file which corresponds to the drive in which you are running the data. For example if your CD-ROM drive is mapped to the D: drive then use the file <sh_gis_D.AEP>. You may also want to copy the entire disk to you hard drive to dramatically improve the speed at which the maps render. To run the project locally copy the entire SH_ENRI folder to your hard rive (C: or D: drive) and use the coresponding sh_gis_?.AEP project. You will need approximately 100 megabytes of memory free on your hard drive to run the project locally.

USING ARCVIEW GIS
The GIS data files can also be used with ARCVIEW[tm] desktop GIS software which is available from Environmental Systems Research Institute[tm] Redlands, California. ARCVIEW[tm] allows sophisticated spatial analysis capabilities not available with ARCEXPLORER[tm] program included on this disk.
