SENIOR DESIGN PROJECT TEAMS

Project Teams - The nature of the project will require the services of a team capable of operating in multiple areas of civil engineering.  Each design team has 4/5 members.  It is suggested that one member of the team assume responsibility as the team leader.  This can be done through a formal assignment of responsibilities or may occur naturally.  Because of the variable nature of the proposed activities, the design teams should identify the relative strengths of each team member (technical writing, computer graphics, etc.).

Participation - Each team member is expected to contribute equitably to the completion of the project.  This includes design and analysis work, written submittals, and group oral presentations.  It is up to the team members to assure a balanced work load.

Team Working Sessions – All work will be conducted in a professional atmosphere similar to that found in any consulting engineering design firm.  The course coordinators will function as an on-site client, and will conduct short weekly briefing sessions with each design team to monitor job status.  The design teams must track their progress using written communications such as interoffice memos and progress reports.  Each team must maintain a project file that documents participation in the project, i.e. meeting notes, design calculations, phone calls, etc.
