Keith H. Johnson
Education
Mr. Johnson received a B.A. from Luther College, Decorah. Iowa, with a major in physics, in 1969. He went on to graduate school at Steward Observatory, at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona.
There he was lucky enough to observe using several of the telescopes at (what was then called) Kitt Peak Observatory (now it's the National Optical Astronomy Observatory, though other telescopes operated by various organizations are present on Kitt Peak). He still remembers with fondness walking up the dark road to the cafeteria for midnight lunch (observatories are one of the few places where four meals are often served each day), and passing various telescope domes with various kinds of music drifting out through the open slits. Fortunately rap music had not yet been invented… Keith received his M.S. in astronomy from Steward in 1976, though he left the university and was working in a planetarium two years before.
