This is some information about me and my view on teaching.
My name is Jacqueline Mainart. I attend Rowan University with the intention of graduating with a degree in three different areas. I am studying early childhood education, writing arts, and special education.
Rowan has prepared me very well for my future career. I have taken classes that have taught me skills in dealing with different types of families and cultures, creating lesson plans, creating behavior plans, researching and implementing different types of assistive technology in the classroom, how to approach and teach reading, the developmental characteristics of children at different ages, and how to be a better writer. When I graduate I would like to become a teacher, preferably for the first or second grade. Children are my favorite at that age because they are beginning to be independent, but they still have that sweetness and innocence. They are beginning to understand the world around them and want to learn as much as they can about it.
My philosophy on children is that as an adult they want your approval, love, and respect. Sometimes they make it difficult to reach them, but once you find a way it is going to be worth it. I believe children need good teachers who can make them think outside the box and teach them the things they need to know in a meaningful way that they will not forget. I also believe it is always important to have a positive approach to every situation in the classroom.
