PROMOTION AND SUPPORT FOR BASE ORGANIZATIONS

ORGANIZATIONAL STRENGTHENING
We support the organizations at their meetings and at the same time give advice to the managers regarding administrative matters, (paperwork), negotiation, etc.

We sensitize the public about the importance of treating stevedors and carriers well and with respect through the means of fliers, pamphlets, and brochures at different markets in Cuzco.

We are creating a Coordinator position at the province level with the ability to communicate and negotiate with government representatives regarding granting insurance coverage to stevedors and carriers.

SENSITIZING AND SPREADING THE WORD TO GAIN ACCESS TO CEOS
We are sensitizing Centers of Occupational Education (CEO) so that fellow stevedors may attend classes.

We are supporting stevedors' and carriers' job interests by bringing their attention to scholarships offered by these training centers and organizing visits to these centers.

We are making contact with employment agencies with the purpose of helping those stevedors and carriers who have completed their training to find new jobs.

TRAINING

LEADER DEVELOPMENT SCHOOL

Our purpose is to motivate managers of food markets in Cuzco to participate in our Leader Development School so that we may teach them to strengthen their organizations and develop a sense of citizenship. At the same time, we discuss topics related to personal development, citizens' duties, human rights, democracy, identity, Andean culture, values, alcoholism, etc., depending on the particular characteristics and goals of each organization.

We support the leaders with the goal that they become agents of their own development and at the same time spread their new knowledge to their fellow stevedors and carriers. We hope to create leaders with critical and self-critical ability who are able to attain developmental goals.


ACTIVITIES

The daily tasks of stevedors and carriers are quite stressful and difficult. We engage the stevedors and carriers in activities that complement their daily tasks and at the same time give them the opportunity to celebrate their own culture, identity, clothing, theater, and world perspective. In order to achieve this goal, we schedule visits to historical centers and participate in cultural and scholarly events.


CAMPAIGNS

With the participation of public and private institutions, we organize informational campaigns on topics such as psychology, the environment, hygiene, health, and medical check-ups. A few outstanding institutions that have participated with us in this way are the Universidad Particular Andina, the Universidad Nacional San Antonio Abad del Cuzco (UNSAAC), and the Municipalities.
