My name is Brittany Mitros and I currently attend Rowan University. I am currently combining three different degrees in hopes to become a highly qualified educator. I am studying elementary education, writing arts, and special education. I will be completing my student teaching for elementary education in the fall of 2008 and completing my student teaching for special education in the fall extension program. I feel that Rowan has prepared me thus far in preparation for teaching. I have taken numerous courses allowing me to build lesson plans, unit plans, and develop my own teaching style. I have also taken a deeper look into learning disabilities and ways to differentiate for those different learners. I look forward to implementing all of these skills in my future of teaching. When I graduate I would like to become a special education teacher for a classroom focusing on autism. After working with a student with autism for two years, I feel I would love to have my own classroom at Special Services located in Mayslanding, New Jersey. I would also like to eventually receive my master’s in autism studies in hopes to find new strategies and skills in teaching. When I become a teacher, I want to have a respectful and comfortable learning community. I feel that I should have a healthy relationship with every student, and strive for each student to excel in many skills being taught. I acknowledge that every student is unique and different, and feel I will differentiate accordingly in the classroom. I believe it is important to always have a positive attitude and to make learning fun and exciting. | |
