Europe 2010 Part 8
The next morning we visit the locks on the Rheine River. A tight fit!
The lockkeeper came out special to talk with us.
The ship came in high and went out low.
To a brewery for knowledge, a taste and lunch.
Nice clean place. Good beer.
We drove to Strasbourg to see the European Union center.
Time to hear about the EU.
Into Germany on our way to Wolfach.
Spent much money on cherries and strawberries.
Nice town filled with tourists. No French, just German and us.
Pretty town.
Interesting fountain.
Saw lots of typical Black Forrest homes on the short drive to the hotel.
We were able to visit the home of Daniel who worked at the hotel.
His view from a hilltop was very nice.
He now lives alone in this Black Forrest home. His parents and brother
live next door in a small modern home. His home was mostly barn.
Living rooms had very low ceilings.
The next morning we visited Schiltach, a 16th Century town nearby.
We found a playground.
Much fun.
We are gathered for departure.
Solar energy is big in Europe.
We took a walk through a part of the Black Forrest.
It was a warm day so we stopped to rest often.
We took the high road and they took the low road.
The end of our hike brought us to a small village.
We had a dessert at a nearby resort before heading on.
Our last night was spent in the Hotel Adler in St. Roman.
We were treated to a storm.
Pretty town.
A pleasant babbling brook ran through the town.
Hills in town and around.
The last night was fun.
