South Africa
Part 4
On our way south from Hazyview to Dundee we saw lots of
bananas growing.
This road trip took eight hours.
All we can see are bananas growing.
We also saw lots of KFC and McDonalds fast food places.
We saw quite a mix of homes along the road.
And we spotted tree farms again. This time pine trees,
all straight and all in rows.
The view was nice.
Small town life.
Flowers at one of our stops.
Sparsely populated.
Very small villiage. Outhouse but no electricity even
though it passed nearby.
B&B parking and sky.
B&B flowers.
B&B dining room. Very good meals, great wine.
Our Zulu country guide, Mike.
Zulu huts.
Zulu village.
Zulu school kids lining up for lunch of maize meal and
beans.
They were happy with our gifts.
They danced for us. A lot of stomping took place.
The second school had older kids.
Zulu girl dressed to go husband hunting.
Pot is a cash crop for the Zulu. This small field was
surrounded with thorn bushes
and a strong fence to keep out the goats and people.
Nice waterfall. Drinking water is brought to the huts
by the women
hauling it up from a nearby river. Five to ten gallons
on their heads.
On south toward the shore. This would be a
thirteen-hour day on the road.
We keep being stopped by repairs. It is the ONLY road.
Another small town. Everyone walks in the road.
Wide spread housing but they have a nice view.
Village and mountains.
People waiting to sell recyclable materials.
Plenty of beautiful scenery.
Some of the lesser homes had dishes.
Cracks caused by the rain.
Bike rentals.
Nicer homes always had serious walls and gates.
We saw many unfinished homes that appeared to have not
been worked on recently.
We were high enough to see snow on distant mountains.
The room at the B&B was nice once we got there.
We were a stoneÕs throw from the Indian Ocean.
