About Me...
My name is Jessica Peterson. I am an undergraduate student at Rowan University, where I study Elementary Education and Writing Arts. I am also in the process of earning my endorsement in Reading Education. I will be graduating in May of 2009, and I look forward to student teaching in the spring at Centre City School in Mantua, New Jersey.
I have always had a passion for writing and have a particular interest in children's literature. One of my biggest goals is to become a published author of children's books. My passion for writing stems from my teaching roots. Reading is a required skill and fundamental to a child's development. It is the foundation of all learning and has always been extremely important to me and influencial in my life.
While studying at Gloucester County College, prior to coming to Rowan University, I was involved in Teacher's 2000 (T2K) Program which is a uniquely, nationally recognized learning community that prepares education majors to become a part of a new generation of teachers. As a student in the program, I collaborated with other students to create a logo and slogan for the program.
For almost four years I was employed at Build-a-Bear Workshop where I experienced diversity in age, gender, race, and religion, in addition to interaction among individuals at all capability levels. It taught me to be patient and accommodative, which are values I will carry with me throughout my teaching career and my life.
