M.S. Level Research Assistantship Positions Available

MS level RA positions are available for externally funded projects. The projects involve developing computational intelligence and pattern recognition algorithms for a variety of applications. In particular, we are working on

· Application of ensemble based systems in nonstationary learning (concept drift)

· Unbalanced data problem, where one class has substantially larger number of
instances than the others.

· Incremental learning of additional information that later becomes available to a
classification algorithm, after it has already been trained on a previously existing
database; and

· Data fusion

· Biological signal processing, early diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease from EEG
recordings

· Brain machine interface (we do have a dedicated EEG / ERP system).

All projects require exceptional problem solving, analytical thinking and programming skills (particularly in C/C++ and Matlab). Background in pattern recognition, in particular machine learning algorithms, such as artificial neural networks are highly desired for RA applicants.

For all applicants, regardless of native language, adequate oral and written communication skills commensurate with the requirements of graduate work is expected. RA position will pay for graduate tuition at Rowan University, as well as a stipend for one year, with possible extension to a second year, based on availability of the funds.

Please note that visiting scholar / post-doctoral research associate is a self-funded position, that is you need to provide you own funding for living expenses. If you do have such funding, from scholarships, fellowships, university funded sabbaticals or other sources, we will provide you with a desk / office space, computing and communication resources, access to library and other relevant university resources.
