A complete unknown to many many people (including myself), this region is famous by its natural and man-made beauties. Among the most notables, Mount Ararat, Mount Nemrut National Park (statues of God), Girvelik Waterfalls, and The Lake Van region. The following area attractions map highlight some of the places of interest.

Every corner of Turkey has different "well preserved" historical and natural beauties. This picture can hardly tell you how spectacular the Girvelik Waterfalls are, located in central-eastern Turkey, near the city of Erzincan.

Mount Nemrut National Park is probably one of the most interesting sites to be visited in Turkey. The first impressive peak that rises in the northern area of Mesopotamian Plain (app. 7000 ft) is the Mount Nemrut, and it has invaluable historical treasures. At the top of the mountain, the statues dating back to 1 BC made by the King Antiochus of the Commagene Kingdom, are sure to impress you. The statues include different shapes of animals such as lions, eagles, Antiochus himself, and the four gods, to whom he claimed kinship.
Mount Nemrut is also famous with its impressive view of the sunset and sunrise. Thousands of people climb the 7000 ft mountain everyyear just to see the sunset and sunrise. It is said that the sunrise/sunset view from the top of Mount Nemrut is second to none in the entire world.
Mount Nemrut is 50 miles from the City of Adiyaman, which is served by the Adiyaman Regional Airport.

Yet, it is indeed a gidt of the mother nature to Van. " The cats." Yes... cats....! This region of Turkey is famous with its cats which have two eyes of different color, usually green and blue. hard to believe...? See the figure ...
