Mountains covered with extremely dense pine forests, hills and valleys running to a beatiful coastline with hundreds of miles of uncrowded beaches, fishing villages on the coast, and the mountain villages in the forests that retain a tradional wooden architecture, many fascinating friendly villages, and the tradional Turkish hospitality. This is what The Northern Turkey, The Black Sea Region is all about. The name Black Sea Region is highly misleading, however, since there is nothing in this part of the country but thousands and thousands of square miles of green forests. The following maps illustrates some of the mainattractions of this region of the country.

The Northern Turkey has never been a major tourist attraction, mainly because of its climate which produces a heavy rain for a good portion of the year. For the few and a very selective group of people, however, this region of Turkey is by far more magnificent than any other region, including the Aegean, the Mediterranean, and Istanbul. These people come to the Black Sea Region of Turkey for the excellent rafting and hicking resources of the region. The Coruh River constutites the ultimate challenge for the rafters with a difficulty degree of 5 (on a scale of 6, where 6 is unpassable), and draws hundreds of rafters from all around the world.
And winter... That is a whole other adventure...
This concludes our tour of the Black Sea Region. More to come on this region, so please visit again soon. If you haven't already done so, make sure to visit the other regions of the country:
Istanbul and The Marmara Region
The Aegean Region
The Mediterranean Region
The Central Anatolian Region
The Eastern Turkey
