Introduction
You will learn about dinosaurs and recieve the chance to draw your
own. Dinosaurs are fascinating creatures that lived on our earth
millions of years ago.
The
Task
You will learn
about one
dinosaur and the time period that it lived in. You will then draw your
own dinosaur in the habitat that it lived in millions of years ago.

The
Process
1. Time of the
dinosaurs: When did the dinosaurs live?
a. Look at the
picture below. Each step shows millions of years in the age of the
earth.

The
bottom step is when the earth was very young. The top of the
yellow stair step is where we live today. Dinosaurs lived where the
green
stair steps begin, 245 million years ago. The Age of Dinosaurs is called the
Mesozoic era. It lasted for
three
green stair steps or 185 million years. At the end of the
Cretaceous
period, 65 million years ago, dinosaurs suddenly became
extinct. |
b. We learn
about dinosaurs
by digging up their bones. These old bones found in the ground are
called fossils. Click the link below to

fossils. Use your Back button on your web browser to
return
to
your webquest.
Check out the
diagram below and notice different dinosaur names in differen periods.

about one
dinosaur: Pick a dinosaur and click its
name in the table below.
3. Write down
the period in which your dinosaur lived along with at least 3 more
facts about your dinosaur.
Check out this Power Point Presentation
about different dinosaurs in the 3 different periods.
4. Draw a
picture
of your dinosaur on a blank sheet of paper.
5. a. Click
here to learn about how the earth looked during the Mesozoic Era.
b. Click on the
time when
your dinosaur lived to find out about the habitat for that time
period.
c. Draw the
features of the habitat in your dinosaur picture.

Evaluation
Through class
discussion, name two dinosaurs that we learned about from each period:
Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous.
Then name how one one dinosaur from each period walked.
Finally, give the meaning of the name 'Velociraptor'

Conclusion
You have
completed your Web Quest!
