DRIBBLING, PASSING AND RECEIVING THE BALL (WARM UP PHASE: 0-10 MINUTES)

1.  High 5's - players each have a ball, inside a square.  Have them dribble the ball around the square and high five anyone they meet
Variations: Medium 5's - high 5 at medium level; Low 5's - at low level; Ankle 5's - at ankle level; Love touch - touch ball lightly.

*Dribbling technique: use the inside & outside of either foot, soft ankles, knees bent, keep the ball close and look up frequently*

2.  Keep away/kick away - similar to 1., but try to kick balls away from other players.   If player's ball is kicked out of the square, they do a consequence (e.g., inverted pushups), run out of the square, get another ball, and rejoin the game.

3.  Stealers and Keepers - start 2 - 4 players off without a ball.  These are the stealers.  They try to steal a ball  from another player.  If they steel it, they keep it.  The player who loses the ball then becomes a stealer.  No steal backs!

4.  Chain Link, or Blob Tag Soccer - start 2 players off without a ball.  They try to kick balls out of the square.  If a ball is kicked out, the player in possession of that ball joins hands with the stealer and they are both "it."  They must stay joined as they continue to try to kick other soccer balls out of the square.  Eventually there will be two long lines of stealers and only a few players left with a ball.  Try to end it so there are several "winners."

5.  Terminator - Players line up at one end of half field.  One or two players are between them and the half way line.  Each player has a ball.  They must try to make it to the half way line without getting their ball kicked away.  A players becomes a tagger if their ball is kicked off the field

6.  Crab Soccer Tunnel - Set up 3 small squares in a line.  Use about 8 players per set up.  Have a player in each square in a crab position.  The rest of the players take turns trying to dribble through the tunnel of squares without having their ball kicked away by the "crab."  If a player's ball is kicked away or leaves the square, they exchange places with that "crab."

7.  Soccer Tunnel - Same as #6, but tunnel defenders are upright.  Variation:  Have defenders move one square closer each time; have player whose ball is stolen take the last square and have defenders move up one; set up 4 squares and have the first one be empty for a "free pass;" Rotate defenders out so that they don't spend too long in the tunnel.
