Psychomotor objectives are statements of student outcomes in a lesson or unit which pertain to skill improvement and/or physical fitness development. Well written psychomotor objectives explain what skill or fitness accomplishments students will demonstrate as the result of the lesson or unit. They also imply assessment - the teacher needs to write objectives so that the student skill and/or fitness outcome is clearly stated and is observable or measureable by the teacher, student and/or other students. Skill improvement objectives will refer to an observable skill improvement or adaptation (see 1., below). Fitness related objectives will refer to improvement in a measure of health or performance fitness (see 2., below).
Psychomotor objectives (soccer, 8th grade):
1. Students will perform a push pass with a moving ball and proper instep contact, with 80% accuracy to a partner 10 yards away (NJCCC Standard 2.5.A1)*
2. Students will improve their 30 second
modified
sit up score by one (NJCCC Standard 2.6.B2.)**
Psychomotor objectives (manipulatives/striking/kicking, 4th grade):
1. Students will perform a push pass with a plant step and a kick with the instep of both feet, to a partner (NJCCC Standard 2.5.A1)†
2. Students will improve their 30 second modified sit up score by one (NJCCC Standard 2.6.C5.)††
