ENTRY LEVEL
ASSESSMENT
OF LEARNER

You will be responsible for writing unit plans for lessons you teach in your student teaching assignments.  In preparation for that, you will need to identify the age and grade level of the students you will be teaching and include skills and activities appropriate for this age group.  Other factors which may guide your unit plan are the abilities and interests of the particular students in your school.  You will learn this from observing them, from observing your cooperating teacher with them, and from what your cooperating teacher and classroom teachers tell you about them.  They will also be able to tell you what previous experience these students have had in your activity.  This enables you to differentiate what is review and what is new material.  The health office, the guidance/counselling office, and your cooperating teachers will be able to provide you with information on student health issues, and with social/emotional considerations.  For the Team Sports project, you need only provide information on the age and grade level of students, on their general abilities, (appropriate to their age), on their previous experience (which you can invent, but do not be too ambitious!), and on the general social and emotional characteristics of this age level.  State whether or not you are writing for a co ed group.
