Biographical Statement

William D. Carrigan is Professor of History at Rowan University. He is co-advisor to Phi Alpha Theta and the Student History Association and coordinator of the CLIO Program. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1993 with a B.A. in History. He earned his Ph.D. from Emory University in 1999. Prior to teaching at Rowan University, Dr. Carrigan taught at Spelman College in Atlanta. He specializes in nineteenth and early twentieth century U.S. History. His publications focus on race, ethnicity, mob violence in the Southwestern United States. A number of news sources have cited his research, including the New York Times, the Houston Chronicle, Washington Post, and the Associated Press.
