Practicum
and the Curriculum
This assignment will be
completed in conjunction with your Practicum placement. All
materials will be returned to you (e.g., school or district
curriculum, if you need to return it to your cooperating teacher).
- Acquire School or District Health and
Physical Education Curriculum.(Use the curriculum at your first placement,
e.g., elementary or secondary, and complete the assignment
with it. I realize that you may not have access to the
elementary or secondary curriculum from your second
placement.) I would prefer that
you use the curriculum from your placement. In the event that
the curriculum is not available, please check with me and I
will find a curriculum and complete the assignment.
- You can bring a
printed copy of the curriculum (you will receive this back)
or send me the electronic version or send me the link if it
is on the school's website.
- You should provide complete responses, more than a few
sentences, to the following questions. Please refer to and
include the question number on
your submission. Your paper can be single-spaced, 12
point/font.
- Include your name, the
school or school district, and curriculum level.
- Provide an
overview/synopsis of the curriculum as if you were going to
present it to an interested group of parents - like writing your
speech. Capture the focus - think about what is most important
and why......... (20)
- How is the curriculum the
same as you experienced when you were in school at that age? Be

- What do you think is
missing from the curriculum and what would you add? Open your

- Do you see evidence that
the NJCCCS (now, NJSLS) are being identified and addressed in
this curriculum? Please identify where and how they are
recognized. (10)
- Is there a mission
statement, goals, or philosophy connected to the curriculum? If so, present and discuss it. If not, construct one based on what you
have seen in their curriculum. (10)
- You should
