- Purpose
- To give a dramatic visual demonstration of the fact that objects having like charges repel each other.

- Room 146; Van de Graaff shelf L1, Styrofoam peanuts, L3
- Description
- Fill the plastic cup with Styrofoam peanuts and stick the cup on the top of the VdG dome using the double-sided tape. Connect the grounding wand to the base of the VdG and hold it against the side of the dome as you turn the VdG on. When the VdG is running full speed, remove the wand and watch the peanuts fly!
Turn the VdG off, and please return all peanuts to the box.
