- Purpose
- To demonstrate audibly the phenomenon of beats when there are two sound sources of nearly identical frequency (and amplitude). Also, dependence of natural frequency on mass location can be demonstrated using one of the pair B tuning forks.

- Description
- Using pair A, you can demonstrate audible beats by striking both tuning forks in rapid succession. The forks are identical except that one has a piece of yellow tape on it to lower its natural pitch slightly.
- Pair B can be used if you also want to demonstrate how the natural pitch of a tuning fork changes by changing the location of the adjustable masses on one fork. This also permits one to change the beat frequency using this pair.
