Interference Model

Purpose
To demonstrate formation of interference patterns by superposition of waves originating from two point-like sources.
Location
room 146, shelf O4
Description
Two plexiglass plates having concentric rings are used to model instantaneous images of sections of circular waves (left photo). Use the overhead projector to show them to the class separated (as in left photo). Next, superimpose the plates with their rings coinciding, then, move the two wave centers apart so the students can see the formation of interference patterns (as in right photo).
