To demonstrate the action and interference of transverse waves.
Location
rooms 144 & 148, countertop in rear of room
Description
Slowly insert the black waveform with the same amplitude and wavelength as the red beads. The inserted waveform, represented by the motion of the green beads, results in constructive interference (2nd top photo), followed by destructive interference (3rd photo). Superposition with a different wavelength and amplitude can be observed by inserting the other black waveform (last photo).
