- Purpose
- To demonstrate the presence and strength of atmospheric pressure.
- Location
- Room 136, shelf O4
- Description
- Slide the cohesion discs together while pressing them together so there is essentially no air between them when their surfaces coincide, then try (or have a student try) to pull them apart. The absence of air pressure between them permits atmospheric pressure to hold them together.
- Demonstrate the suction cup by sticking it on the white board. (Don�t forget to put it back in the plastic bag with the cohesion discs when finished.)
