- Purpose
- To demonstrate the tendency of an object to continue moving in a straight line, at the same speed, when no net force is acting on it regardless of its previous state of motion.

- Description
- Swing the cork ball on the string over your head in a circle and get students to predict what path it will follow when you release it at a certain point, then do the demo.
Suggestion: Practice this beforehand to assure release at just the right instant. Also, consider doing this in a hallway or the atrium.
