- Purpose
- To show that an object can have nearly constant speed yet constantly changing velocity and acceleration when moving in a circle under a central force (i.e. the pull of the string).
- Location
- Room 136, shelf L4
- Description
- Swing the ball in a circle at nearly constant speed while holding the string securely. Ask: Is the speed changing? Is the velocity is changing? Is the acceleration changing? (Many will persist in believing that the acceleration is zero because the ball is not "speeding up".)
- Caution: Be aware of location of overhead lighting and hold the string securely.
