Location
Room 136, shelf N3
Description
A small machinists jack and a common car jack can be used to show how the principle of the inclined plane is used in screw jacks. The wheel and axle principle is also employed in the handle s of these jacks to gain greater mechanical advantage. The tapered end of the wrench and the pointed end of the tire iron can be used to show how the principle of the wedge is used to pry or separate things, and the long handle on the wrench provides an additional example of the use of leverage.
