- Purpose
- To demonstrate the tendency of a mass (the wooden block) to oppose changes in its state of motion.

- Description
- Friction holds the wooden block in place on the PVC pipe. Hold the pipe vertically and bring it down swiftly to impact the desktop and the wood will slide down the pipe, carried by its inertia. (left photo)
- Hold the pipe vertically and hit the top with the rubber mallet and the block will slide up the pipe. (right photo)
