Leadership Positions
Rowan University: Interim Associate Provost 10/04 - present The Associate Provost assist the provost in the daily operations of the University’s Division of Academic Affairs. Duties include among others curriculum and pedagogical innovation and development, enrollment management and policy, assessment, and faculty development. The Associate Provost supervises the Honors Program, the Faculty Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, the Center for the Study of Student Life, and the R.O.T.C. program. Rowan University: Department of Biological Sciences Chair 1/02 – 10/04 The Department of Biological Sciences has 13 tenured faculty members, offering a B.S. in Biology, a minor, and two concentrations (Environmental Studies and Pre-Medical). It has approximately 300 majors. Duties include the hiring and mentoring of new faculty, developing tenure and recontracting and promotion recommendations to the Dean, preparing and managing the department budget, preparing class schedules, active involvement in curriculum development, coordination of department strategic plans, program reviews, and departmental assessment. Rowan University: Department of Biological Sciences Associate Chair Help in the Mmanagement and leadership of the Department of Biological Sciences. 7/98 –12/01 Rowan University: Chair Council Founder & Chair Elect 3/04 – 10/04 The council consist of the 35 chairs of academic departments or equivalent academic units. Duties include sharing information and solving problems; mentor junior; participate in hiring committees for Deans; be the liaison to administration. Rowan University: University Senate Vice President 07/02–06/04 Duties include serving on the All University Budget Committee, Acting as the presiding officer in the President’s absence, monthly meetings with the University President, Provost, and all members of the President cabinet, annual meeting with the Dean’s Council, annual meeting with the Board of Trustees, and attending Board of Trustee meetings. Rowan University: University Senate Secretary 07/01-06/02 Rowan University: Faculty Center Acting Director 07/00–06/01 Rowan University: Faculty Center Board Member 07/99–06/02 The Faculty Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning is an all university center for faculty development. Duties as Acting Director included organizing faculty workshops, organizing and conducting the “Scholarship of Teaching” conversations, conducting the search for the Director, preparing and managing the Center budget, organizing the Annual Professional Rowan Conference, organizing and conducting “New Faculty Orientation”, creating and institutionalizing a “University Mentoring Program”, presiding and setting the agenda for the Board meetings, and attending conferences representing Rowan University. Rowan University: Rowan Professional Women’s Network Advisory Board Board Member 07/01 -- present The Rowan Professional Women’s Network is a local Chapter of ACENET (American Council on Education Network). The Advisory Board is involved in member orientation, organizes local events on campus, participates in committees, mentor professional women, provide leadership roles, promotes the chapter local and national, and participates in the NJ ACENET. Rowan University: Honors Advisory Board Board Member 07/98 – 06/02 The Honors Program at Rowan University was originally housed in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. In my first year as a board member we proposed and were able to move the program as an all University Program with over 100 students. The Advisory Board selects the honors courses for each semester, conducts the Honors Freshman orientation, elects incoming Board members, does annual program reviews and revises the Honor Program strategic plans. Rowan University: Women’s Studies Advisory Board Board Member 07/94 – 10/04 The Women’s Studies Program is an interdisciplinary program housed in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The Advisory Board selects the courses for each semester, organizes Women’s History Month, and does annual program reviews.
