Lab Project 1
Monte Carlo Simulation of a Baseband
Binary Communications System
Objectives
-
To simulate baseband binary digital communications
system with uni-polar and polar line encoding in the presence of AWGN channel
-
To compute BERs and compare with theoretical predictions
Software
-
MATLAB and Communications Blockset
-
Simulink DSP and Communications Blocksets
Requirements
-
Develop a simulation of the the baseband digital communications system
shown in the Figure.
-
Obtain performance curves of BER vs. SNR for unipolar and polar line coded
signals.
-
Compare with theoretically predicted values - note down your observations.
-
What conclusions can be drawn from this simulation?
