Monte Carlo Simulation of a
Bandpass Digital Communications System
Objectives
- To simulate M-ary bandpass PSK and QAM digital
communications systems with in the presence of AWGN channel
- To compute BERs and compare with theoretical
predictions
Software
- MATLAB and Communications Blockset
- Simulink DSP and Communications Blocksets
Requirements
- Develop a simulation of the the bandpass digital communications system
shown in the Figure.
- Obtain performance curves of BER vs. SNR for M-ary PSK and M-ary QAM
systems for M = 2, 4, 16
- Compare with theoretically predicted values - note down your observations.
- What conclusions can be drawn from this simulation?
