Trenton
Trenton is the capital city of New Jersey and was briefly the capital of the United States from November to December in 1784. In fact, Trenton nearly became the permanent seat of the country. The city had a significant role in the Revolutionary War. It was the site of the Battle of Trenton, which occurred shortly after George Washington famously crossed the Delaware River on Christmas.
Aside from being a hub for New Jersey politics, Trenton houses a variety of attractions. The New Jersey State Museum is free and includes a planetarium. Additionally, the Trenton Thunder, a former minor league affiliate of the New York Yankees, play at the Trenton Thunder Ballpark.
