Cowtown Rodeo
Hosting weekly rodeos since 1929, Cowtown Rodeo in Pilesgrove is one of the oldest in the nation. It is also New Jersey’s only rodeo. The rodeo has been owned by the Harris family for its entire existence. Events include bull riding, steer wrestling and bareback riding. Cowtown has even hosted the Professional Bull Riders.
Unfortunately, the rodeo has not been without controversies and concerns. Its existence has been threatened many times by organizations seeking to construct warehouses upon its property, which the Harris family has resisted. In 2016, a teenager tragically lost his life after falling off his horse. However, Cowtown remains a tourist attraction for many in the local area, particularly in the summer.
