BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham

BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham

This site is the largest Hindu temple in the United States and the second largest Hindu temple on the entire planet. It took 12 years to construct BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham and required the labor of over 12,500 workers. In front of the complex is a pond and a 49-foot sacred statue of Bhagwan Swaminarayan, the revered founder of the BAPS sect. Behind that image are two mandirs (temples) decorated with extravagant, beautiful and precise artwork and carvings.

Worshippers and tourists can be found at BAPS. Visitors who step into both mandirs are required to take off their shoes. Traditional services also take place at the site. It is free to visit BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham but on some days reservations may be required. More information can be found at https://usa.akshardham.org.
