Your final
document (one per
curricular team) will use the following format:
- Title Page
- Team Name
- Could include picture of school(s)
- Curriculum Team Members
- Demographics (This portion of your grade is worth 5 points.)
- Type of School District (urban, suburban, rural, etc)
- HE&PE Mission Statement (This portion of your grade is
worth 3 points.)
- Curricular Goals (This portion of your grade is worth 26
points.)
- Use the grade clusters K-5, 6-8, 9-12 - you will end up
with a minimum of 36 total goals - 12 for each grade
cluster. Place your goals in a table where the domain is
in the left hand column and grade clusters are across the
top. This will make it possible to view the progression of
all objectives in a particular domain, use
the
distributed table format.
- Psychomotor: two PE and two HE
- Cognitive: two PE and two HE
- Affective: two PE and two HE
- You must provide a clear definition for each of the PE and
HE broad content areas presented in your curriculum. This
means that you will have 5 PE and 3 HE for K-5; 5 PE and 3
HE for 6-8; and 5 PE and 3 HE for 9-12 (also note if
definition changes across grade levels). Include a few
examples for clarification/identification. (This
portion of your grade is worth 16 points.)
- Your scope will include at least 5 PE broad content
areas and 3 HE broad content areas (in each of the grade
clusters...K-5, 6-8, 9-12). Some might appear in each
grade cluster and some may only appear in one or two, but
each grade cluster will have a minimum of 5 PE and 3 Health.
(This portion of your grade is worth 75 points.)
- When developing a Scope and Sequence for (K-5)
(6-8) (9-12), use the distributed
excel format.
- A minimum of 5 PE broad content areas in each grade
cluster (e.g. team sports).
- A minimum of 3 HE broad content areas in each grade
cluster (e.g. social and emotional health). You
could also include driver ed, but it would only be
during one year (10th or 11th grade) - this would mean
that you could have a broad content area (driver ed) and
2 other HE broad content areas for one year.
- Each broad content area should have a minimum of 5
topics/units (e.g. basketball or e.g. interpersonal
relationships) and
- A variable number of skills under each topic (e.g.
dribbling or e.g. feelings)
- Place an "1" in the table whenever the skill is taught
for the first time. If you believe you will be
teaching this unit during multiple years, consider the
scope of your unit and break it down into smaller parts -
one part in year 1, another part in year 2, another part
in year 2, and a final part in year 3 (for example).
Double check the "1" count noted at the end of each broad
content area and at the end of each grade level - this
will help you to understand how you have distributed the
content over the grade levels and will have a direct
impact on your next project - the year long implementation
plan.
