Laboratory
Attendance during lab sessions is mandatory. You may miss one session without penalty (EXCEPT the Civil 3D session). After that, 1 point will be deducted from your final grade for each session missed without permission. Permission to miss a lab period must be obtained BEFORE the missed period, except in the case of emergencies.
Students spend the lab period working on textbook examples and, time permitting, assignments. I am present during the laboratory session to provide assistance. The work load is such that students with little or no previous AutoCAD experience may need to work outside of the scheduled lab time to complete examples following the class schedule (see schedule page). Students should prepare for each laboratory session by reading the appropriate chapters.
Students receive 0.18 points/example (up to 20 points) for completing examples in the first 20 chapters of the course textbook (Quick Start to 19). Once Chapters QS to 19 are finished completely, students wishing to complete the 3D extra credit problmes should complete the examples in chapters 21 - 26; however, no points are obtained for completing examples in chapters 21 - 26.
A CD that comes with the textbook has drawings for many of the examples. If an example asks you to use a particular drawing, DO SO! It may have settings or even a drawing needed for the example. I have also put the drawings on the open area, at O:\Openarea\engineering\Projects\Everett-Courses\Graphics. For more information on the Open Area, check out my student resources page.
I may miss some of the examples in the textbook. If I do, please complete them. Most examples begin with the word "STEPS"; however a few do not. In general examples in the text consist of numbered steps.
Document the completion of each example by dating and initialing the example form, which must be brought to each lab session. I will provide the handout in class, but if you lose it, you can find it here (2012). Record the number of examples completed at the top of the form before you turn it in on the last day of class.
Save your completed example drawings in a folder used only for said drawings and name them so they can be listed in the order the associated examples appear in the textbook. It is your responsibility to demonstrate that you have completed examples you claim on the example form, e.g., by showing completed drawings or answering questions. |
