Dr. Richard Fopeano is a long time Health Educator with over 20 years of
teaching experience. He graduated from Cortland State College in
1977 and taught High School Health Education for 4 years. In 1981
he left this position to work on a Masters Degree in Health Education with
a concentration Public Health at Ball State University. From there
he started his Doctorial Course work at Temple University and eventually
went on to complete a Ph.D. in Health Education with a concentration in
Health Administration. Since that time he has worked in a Public Health
Department as a Health Educator and completed an extensive study of young
adolescents and Life Skill Education. He went on to become a Co-Director
of a School Based Youth Center and developed an Health Education Outreach
program for schools. He eventually became a Director of an Outpatient Drug
and Alcohol Treatment program. He was employed at Rowan in 1992 and
is currently a tenured professor. Dr. Fopeano does extensive work
outside the University as an Educational Consultant in the areas of Active
Learning, School Health Education, The New Jersey Core Curriculum Content
Standards, Drug and Family Life Education and Stress Management. He is
married and is the father of two daughters.
