Technology Grant

The School of Education seeks funding through grants to outside organizations in order to support its technology goals. Over the last three years it has been awarded several grants which have brought $1.75 million in outside funding and partner matches to the School of Education.

  • A Preparing Tomorrow's Teachers to Use Technology (PT3) grant funded by the U.S. Department of Education., 1999-2001. USE-Tech, University-School Educational Technology Partnerships, was a capacity building grant which helped teacher preparation program faculty to the model technology integration throughout the SOE and the CAS in both methods and content area courses, and focused on the achievement of specified technology competencies by preservice teachers.   • A Preparing Tomorrow's Teachers to Use Technology (PT3) grant funded by the U.S. Department of Education., 2001-2004. An implementation grant which will enable a strong P-16 partnership to develop a "21st century" teacher preparation program. Through this initiative cohorts of teacher candidates will authentically experience what it means to use technology as a learning, teaching, productivity, research, and communication tool. The four project goals focus on integration, partnership, leadership, and communities of learner. Additional information can be found in the project description and graphic overview.
  • A Preparing Tomorrow's Teachers to Use Technology (PT3) grant funded by the U.S. Department of Education., 2001-2004. A catalyst grant won by the State System of Higher Education, the WCU School of Education is one of four universities that will pilot reforms in the teacher preparation program including the integration of information and instructional technology, related curriculum and faculty development, and program improvements designed to increase student recruitment, retention and degree completion, and particularly of minority and inner-city students.   • A CETP - PA grant funded by NSF for participation by the 14 state universities. A faculty member won a grant that is developing an improved teacher supervision model that uses a PDA for assessment information and report generation. Further information can be found in the project proposal.
